Trojan skaters drop 2 of 3

The New Prague Trojan boys hockey team had trouble hanging on to third period leads in two of their three games last week, and that led to a pair of non-conference losses, along with a Wright County Conference win over Hutchinson.

New Prague (8-9-1, 2-3-1 WCC) was scheduled to host Waconia Tuesday, Jan. 30. They will return to action Friday, Feb. 2, at Delano/Rockford. They host Mound Westonka Monday, Feb. 5.

Bears 3, Trojans 2 New Prague and Blake battled to a 2-2 standstill in regulation, but Blake scored the game-winner at 5:49 of overtime to take a 3-2 win Tuesday, Jan. 23.

The Bears outshot the Trojans 17-8 in the first period, but New Prague had the only goal, as Grant Yackly scored on a power play, with Luke Witt and Landon Peterson assisting.

The Bears tied the game early in the second, but Peterson scored a power play goal at 9:59 of the second, assisted by Carter Seymour and Blake Woodson.

Blake tied it at 2-2 on a power play goal in the third. New Prague had a good opportunity with a 5-on-3 power play in the third, but couldn’t convert.

Shots were 43-28 in favor of Blake, Collin Dorzinski stopped 40 of 43 shots in taking the loss.

Trojans 4, Tigers 1 New Prague controlled the action and took a 4-1 win over Hutchinson in a Wright County Conference game Thursday, Jan. 25, at Hutchinson.
