Trojan tennis team drops to 2-8 on season
The New Prague Trojan tennis team lost three matches last week, dropping their season record to 2-8 on the season. The Trojans lost to Prior Lake, Shakopee and Mankato East.
New Prague was scheduled to face Hutchinson Tuesday. On Friday, May 1, they host Minneapolis Washburn and Saturday, May 2, they are at Waseca. New Prague hosts New Ulm Monday, May 4, and Red Wing Tuesday, May 5, before completing their regular season with a home match against Holy Angels Thursday, May 7.
Lakers 6, Trojans 1
Kyle Chevalier improved his record to 7-1 as the No. 4 singles player won his match in two sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Joe Morris, Kam Manthe and Jared Burton lost in singles as did the doubles teams of Joe Klehr and Mario Najera, Andy Roach and Aaron Hendrickson, and David Lim and Billy Sonnek.
Sabers 6, Trojans 1
Just five days after losing to Shakopee 4-3, both teams retooled their lineup, with the result a 6-1 Trojan loss.
New Prague's only win came from Morris at No. 1 singles.
Manthe lost at No 2 singles in a three-set match. Klehr and Chevalier also lost in singles, while the teams of Burton/Najera, Roach/ Hendrickson and Lim/ Sonnek all lost in doubles.
Cougars 6, Trojans 1
Morris once again took the only win for New Prague, with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles.
