Trojans drop 3 games in a week

After winning their first three games, the New Prague Trojan baseball team has dropped five in a row, including their first two Wright County Conference games.

The Trojans lost three times in the past week, falling to Holy Family Catholic, Delano and Shakopee. New Prague hosts Hutchinson Tuesday, April 26, and Orono Thursday, April 28. They play at Waconia on Tuesday, May 3, and at Holy Family on Thursday, May 5.

Fire 5, Trojans 4 New Prague scored first, but gave up three runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 5-4 loss to Holy Family in New Prague Tuesday, April 19.

Adam Meyer reached on an error and later scored on a groundout to put New Prague up 1-0 after one. Holy Family tied it in the second and took a 4-1 lead in the fourth.

New Prague scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-3 game. Taylor Lambrecht scored on a double by Carter Seymour, and Alex Gregor scored on a bases loaded walk by Meyer.

Holy Family added an insurance run in the top of the sixth, and they needed it as the Trojans scored a run in the bottom of the seventh. Lambrecht was hit by a pitch and Gregor singled to move him to third. Seymour was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no one out. But they only got the one run, as the Fire retired the next three batters.

Frank Bartyzal had two hits for the Trojans. On the mound, Meyer took the loss, pitching four innings and allowing five hits and four runs, while striking out two. Nathan Berg pitched the final three innings, allowing three hits and one run, striking out two.

Tigers 2, Trojans 0 Delano’s Jordan Schramel pitched a one-hitter, striking out five Trojans as the Tigers beat New Prague 2-0 Friday, May 22. 

Nathan Berg had a two-out single in the first, but that would be the only hit for the Trojans.

New Prague had a runner advance as far as second in the third inning, when....
