Trojans fall to Century
The New Prague Trojan football team came back from a 14-0 first half deficit to take a 16-14 lead, but Rochester Century scored the winning touchdown when a bad snap on a field goal attempt led to a touchdown pass, and the Panthers defeated New Prague 2-16.
New Prague got on the scoreboard late in the first quarter on a 24-yard field goal from Jacob Wetschka. In the second quarter, Nathan Berg threw a 9-yard pass to Carter Seymour to pull the Trojans to within four at 14-10. Berg and Seymour combined again for a 29-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give the Trojans the lead.
Tyler Montanye led the Trojans on the ground with 121 yards on 21 carries. Berg completed 11 of 20 passes for 138 yards and two scores. Mason Mayer had eight catches for 41 yards and Seymour four catches for 81 yards. Seymour and Montanye led the team in tackles with 13 and 9 respectively.
New Prague hosts Winona at 7 p.m. Friday at Trojan Stadium. The Winhawks are 2-0, having defeated Rochester John Marshall and Faribault, and are ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA.
