Trojans get back to winning ways

The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team bounced back from its first loss of 2016 with a pair of wins last week, defeating Minneapolis Patrick Henry and Holy Family Catholic. The Trojans (15-6, 5-1 Wright County East) will host Orono (No. 7, Class AAA) on Friday, Feb. 5, and plays at Delano (No. 5, Class AAA) Tuesday, Feb. 9, in a pair of key WCC East games.

The Trojans' February 2 home game against Rochester Mayo was postponed due to the weather. No makeup date has been set as of press time.

Trojans 48, Patriots 40 After trailing at halftime, the Trojans took command in the second half, playing strong defense and controlling the pace of the game to defeat Minneapolis Patrick Henry (No. 9, Class AAA) 48-40.

"I was not happy with how we started the game and the entire first half from an attitude and effort standpoint," Trojan Coach Bryce Tesdahl said. "To our kids' credit, the halftime message was delivered, and we came out with a sense of urgency."

Zach Hanson played outstanding on the offensive end, dominating the paint, Tesdahl said.

"Henry was averaging 75 points a game and we held them to 40. Anytime you can do that, you'll put yourselves in a position to win the game."

Hanson finished with 20 points and had.........
