Trojans lose tourney opener
The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team lost in the first round of the state tournament Friday, 10-3 to South Washington County.
The Trojans include players from New Prague, Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan schools.
The Trojans trailed 4-2 after two periods, but South Washington ouscored New Prague 6-1 in the third. Charlie Zeilinger scored all three goals for New Prague and Noah Hayden stopped 28 of 38 shots. New Prague was outshot 38-15.
The Trojans will play in the consolation round of the tournament at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, against Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville. If they win, they play again at 1:45 p.m. The tournament is being played at Bloomington Jefferson High School.
