Trojans top Cougars, Sabers; go to 3-0

The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team improved its early season record to 3-0 with wins over Lakeville South and Shakopee last week.

New Prague was scheduled to host Chanhassen Tuesday, Dec. 13, and on Friday, Dec. 16, they will play at No. 8 Chaska. New Prague hosts East Ridge on Tuesday, Dec. 20, then concludes the pre-Christmas schedule Thursday, Dec. 22, at Rochester Mayo.

Trojans 65, Cougars 50 Lakeville South scored the game’s first basket, but New Prague charged back and never trailed the rest of the way as they defeated the Cougars 65-50 in Lakeville Tuesday, Dec. 6.

New Prague shot well from the field, at a 56.8 percent clip, including eight three-pointers. New Prague led by nine at the half and stretched it out to 15 several times in the second half.

Jared Milinkovich led the Trojans with 16 points. Zach Hanson had 14, Jacob Milinkovich had 12 and Tyler Kemp came off the bench to score 10. Others scoring were Jacob Washa with six, Tylar Lindell with five and Somto Eneh with two. Hanson had nine rebounds and Jacob Washa had four assists while Hanson and both Jacob and Jared Milinkovich added three. The Trojans outrebounded the Cougars 27-22.

Trojans 68, Sabers 56 New Prague went on a big run midway through the first half and led 32-23 at halftime as they defeated Shakopee 68-56 in the Trojan gym Friday, Dec. 9.
