Trojans top Tigers, 27-6

The New Prague Trojan football team ended its regular season on a winning note, defeating Farmington 27-6 at Trojan Field Tuesday.

Tyler Busch ran for three touchdowns and also scored a two-point conversion to help built a 21-0 lead for the Trojans. Farmington scored midway through the fourth quarter on a 33-yard pass. New Prague drove deep into Farmington territory on the next possession, but the drive ended on a fourth-and-long with an interception on the 8-yard line. On the next play, Trojan defensive back Alex Dittberner picked off a Farmington pass and returned it 21 yards for the Trojans fourth score.

New Prague (6-2, 5-2 Missota) finishes the regular season in third place in the Missota. They know their next game will be at home, but they won't know when or who the opponent will be until Wednesday evening, after Faribault's game against Rochester Mayo. If Mayo wins, New Prague will be the No. 2 seed, behind Northfield, and will host Red Wing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. If Faribault wins, the Trojans, Northfield and Faribault will finish in a three-way tie for first in the section and the seeds will be determined by a coin toss. The top seed will have a first-round bye and play either Austin or Winona at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The No. 3 seed hosts Albert Lea at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Playoff pairings will be posted online at newpraguetimes.com when they are announced.
