Trojans win at home

The Trojan boys track team competed in two meets last week.

On Tuesday, May 9, they were scheduled to compete in the Section 1AAA True Team meet in Farmington. New Prague’s next meet is Tuesday, May 16, with the WCC East meet in Orono.

New Prague meet New Prague hosted a Wright County Conference triangular with Delano and Watertown-Mayer Tuesday, May 2, with the Trojans coming out on top with 108 points. Delano was second at 44, with Watertown-Mayer third at 33. New Prague had 10 firstplace finishes, with three of those coming from Eric Chromy, who won the 110 hurdles in 15.28 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 43.3 and the pole vault with a height of 11 feet. Nathan Schoenbauer won two events, the long jump, with a leap of 19-10/75 and the triple jump with a leap of 39-6.5 Other first place finishes were by Eli Parker (100 m, 11.74), Carson Davis (800 m, 2:08.39), Hayden DeGross (1,600 m 4:51.04), Wade Hartmann (high jump, 6-0) and Noah Hummel (discus, 114-6). Christian Velishek had three second-place finishes, in the 200, 110 hurdles and high jump. Egan Beard took second in the 400 and the discus. Other second-place finishers were Jacob Lee (100), Jack Siegle (1,600), Parker (300 hurdles), Mason DeGross (pole vault), Hartmann (long jump) and Brad Kubes (shot put). Taking third were Thomas Eckstein (800), Bryce Grebner (3,200), John Wacker (300 hurdles) and Andrew McGannon (discus). Fourth place finishers for the Trojans were Grant Schaap (3,200), Wacker (triple jump) and McGannon (shot put). The Trojans’ 4x100 relay team took first in 46.88 seconds. The other three relays all took second.
