Two men killed in crash on Scott Co. Rd. 8
Two men from Apple Valley were killed in a crash in eastern Scott County Wednesday, Dec. 28.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, a card driven by Jose Francisco Merino Martinez, 28, of Apple Valley attempted to pass a pickup on Scott County Road 8, just east of Scott County Road 27. Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that the car spun out and struck the pickup. Deputy Sheriff Greg Muelken said the road was icy and may have contributed to the collision.
The car separated into three pieces and both Martinez and a passenger, his brother Jesus, were killed on impact.
Authorities said that neither man had identification on them, and the two were identified using dental records.
The driver of the pickup was taken to St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, where he was treated and released.
