Union Hill wins region 3C crown

The Union Hill Bulldogs claimed the region 3C championship and a first round bye in the State Class C Baseball Tournament with a 5-0 win over Faribault Sunday, Aug. 13. Dan Feneis pitched a complete game shutout for the Bulldogs. 

The field has been set for the State Tournament, which begins Friday, Aug. 18, in Green Isle, Hamburg and Norwood. Five Dakota-Rice-Scott teams have qualified for state, Union Hill, Faribault, New Prague and New Market in Class C and Elko in Class B. Pairings were announced late Sunday night. The first game for each DRS team is as folows. 

Class C - First round

Friday, Aug. 18 - Watkins vs. New Prague, 7:30 p.m. in Norwood

Saturday, Aug. 19 - Faribault vs. Gibbon, 1 p.m. in Green Isle

Sunday, Aug. 20 - Dumont vs. New Market, noon in Hamburg

Class C Second Round

Saturday, Aug. 26 - Union Hill vs. Henderson/Milroy winner, 5 p.m. in Hamburg

Class B First round

Sunday, Aug. 20 - Brooklyn Park vs. elko, 5 p.m. in Norwood
