Vargo and Riebel nominated in Triple ‘A’ contest

The Academics, Arts and Athletics award (Triple “A”) offered by the AAA Company and Fairview Hospitals is designed to recognize and honor high school students who have excelled in the classroom, on the field and in the fine arts. Each year, a male and female from school districts across Minnesota are nominated, including the Tri-City United School District.

This year’s two nominees are Nathan Riebel and Cami Vargo.

Nathan Riebel is the son of Dale and Angie Riebel. He has a 3.4 grade point average (GPA) and is involved in football, golf and ARTeam. When asked what his favorite activity was Riebel said, “I enjoy all of the activities that I am in, but I really enjoy the ARTeam trips that are offered because it’s really cool to visit others places around Minnesota that deals with art”.

His favorite sport is golf because it’s an individual sport that he can improve everyday he plays. He also has fun doing it as well.

On being selected to be a Triple A recipient, Riebel said, “I feel honored to be selected, and it means a lot to me knowing that I’m getting recognized for my hard work and effort in all three categories”.

He also mentioned fellow award winner, Cami Cargo, by saying “I feel honored because Cami, for sure, deserves this award because she is very smart, does a great job at all of her sports she plays, and does even a better job in some of the incredible art pieces that she makes!”

Nathan has tentative plans of attending community college for his generals, then attending the University of Las Vegas Nevada to study Forensic Science and Fine Arts.

Cami Vargo is the daughter of Justin and Tina Vargo. Her GPA is 4.057. She is involved in basketball, volleyball (captain), softball, World Empowerment team member, student council secretary, Business Professional of America member, class president, and ARTeam president.

When asked what her favorite activity was Vargo, said, “I don’t have a favorite! I enjoy being busy and not always doing the same thing 24/7. I do love art maybe a little bit more than the others, but I enjoy every activity I take part in!”

She noted that her favorite sport is basketball because of all the hours she has put into the sport since fifth grade.

When asked how she feels about receiving the award, Vargo is honored.

“As anyone would be, I am extremely honored. I know my graduating class is full of intelligent people who are equally deserving of the award!” she said. “I have worked hard in each area of the AAA award throughout high school, and I am proud of all I’ve accomplished. I hope to continue this through college”.

Vargo went on to talk about Riebel winning the award.

“Nate and I relate similarly in the arts category! He is the most talented male artist TCU has, and I can’t wait to see all the things he ends up making in the future!” she stated. “He is crazy amazing with a pen and a sharpie, and has such a creative edge to him.”

Cami plans on attending the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities to get her masters in architecture next year.
