Webster Harvest Days has hot fun
Despite the heat of last weekend people enjoyed the 21st annual Webster Harvest Days. Held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24 and 25, the celebration dealt with temperatures in the mid to high 90s both days. There were several activities from concerts to children’s games to the Grand Parade on Sunday.
With the heat, parents were making sure their children stayed cool with water or cold treats. Adults also found shade in Webster Park where many of the activities were held.
One event that was missing was the crowning of a 2013 Webster Harvest Days Royalty. Carolyn Hill, one of the organizers, said the pageant wasn’t held this year due to the lack of volunteers. In the past, Harvest Days has had 20 to 25 people helping run it, but this year they only had six. She hopes more people will step up next year to help the celebration continue.
