Wet weather (finally) greets September anglers

Some wet weather finally came as we closed out the month of September.

That's what anglers faced as they headed out to fish. Northern pike moved shallow, just like they are supposed to. We fished in water less than five feet deep this weekend and found pike stacked almost on top of each other.

We were casting spinnerbaits and the pike were very aggressive. By aggressive I mean if you missed a hit you could cast back to the area and almost always hook the fish.

Seth Bartusek visited New Prague from Chicago. He also found fish to his liking. He was guided by Billy Bartusek and Mark Lund. Also, joining Seth for the great fishing was Mark's son Tyler. The boys landed some big bass and also caught a bunch of sunfish.

His first deer

Bowhunting for deer also continues as fall strolls in. Brandon Palma arrowed a nice doe last week. This was his first deer. Brandon has bow hunted for about three years.

Hunting here is not like it is on television. You have to put in your time. You have to find a good spot and then the deer need to come close enough for a shot. Then hopefully they are clear of trees and brush so the arrow can hit its mark.

Brandon has had other chances but all the scenarios have never come together before. Finally, last week they fell into place and the arrow found its mark. I'm sure the deer will make some great table food for the upcoming winter.
