Wrestlers advance to second round
The New Prague Trojans advanced to the semifinals at the State Class AA wrestling tournament Thursday morning with a 32-19 win over Adrian.
The two teams split the first six matches, and the match was tied 10-10. That's when Trojan senior Morgan Parriott wrestled a dominating match at 145 pounds for a 10-2 major decision. The Trojans won the next four matches to take a 23-10 lead. New Prague lost the next two, by decision and by fall, but Nathan Preston clinched things with a 35-second fall at 220 pounds and Zach Lafavor closed out the match with a 3-0 decision.
New Prague will face No. 1-ranked Kasson-Mantorville in the semifinals at 1 p.m.
