Wrestlers attend Iowa State Univ. camp

Seventeen wrestlers from New Prague attended a wrestling camp at Iowa State University in Ames, IA recently.

Twenty-four team representing five states took part in a tournament, with New Prague finishing in the top 10 of a solid field.

On the last day of the camp an all-star team was selected. New Prague’s Travis Rutt, Eric Olson, Jake Schoenecker and Matt Arens were among the 40 wrestlers selected to this all-star team, chosen from the 220 campers.

In addition to team competition, wrestlers learned techniques from the Iowa State wrestling staff. Among the clinicians were 2004 Olympic Gold Medallist and four-time NCAA Champion Cael Sanderson and 2004 Olympic Head Coach Bobby Douglas.

Coaches Greg Sayler and Greg Tikalsky took the team to the four-day camp.
