Wrestling Club does well at state tourney
The New Prague Wrestling Club recently competed in the MN/USAstate wrestling tournament at the Rochester Community Technical College.
New Prague qualified 31 wrestlers for the event, which featured more than 1,500 wrestlers from throughout the state. The young Trojans had great success with 15 grapplers earning a top six finish. This is the highest amount of place winners New Prague has had in recent years.
Many of the weight classes included 30-50 kids per bracket, with some more than 60. The New Prague Wrestling Club scored more match points than any other team in the state.
Top finishers in the boys tournament were: (2nd Place) – Joey Novak, Nick Novak (3rd Place) – Cael Berg, Mason Deutsch, Colton Bornholdt (4th Place) – Evan Farley, Koy Buesgens (5th Place) – Henry Langeberg, Lawson Eller, Evan Anderson, Colby Dunkel (6th Place) – Grady Connelly, Alex Scheffler.
Top finishers in the girls tournament were: (1st Place) – Carley Lofton (3rd Place) – Destiney Lofton.
Also qualifying and competing in the event were: Tayden Krocak, Forester Lofton, Cody Thompson, Vincent La- Belle, Elijah Lofton, Isaac Pumper, Easton Farley, Tommy Vaughan, Brady Westall, Reven Tietz, Colton Zwiefel, Brandon Michel, Charlie Otteson, Noah Block, Jacob Vaughan and Matt Giesen.
