Youth hang out and fish with the Vikings

Alyson Hennen and her sister, Grace, have both done some fishing in the past, but nothing prepared them for the catch they reeled in on Saturday afternoon on Jefferson and German lakes, south of Montgomery.

“Every time we put the line in the water, there was a fish on it,” Alyson said. “It was a lot of fun!”

Viking’s rookie, tight end David Morgan, also had a different experience fishing in the same outing at the Hennen sisters. The Texas native is no stranger to fishing, having dropped his line in Texas waters, but fishing in Minnesota was different.

“It was my first time fishing up north. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the kids,” he said. “It was a great day.”

The event the Hennans and Morgan are referring to is the annual Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse Youth Fishing Outing. It was held on Saturday, June 11 and brought together youth with Vikings players for a couple of hours of fishing and fun.

Le Sueur County Sheriff Dave Tietz said the 15th annual event that was dedicated to the late Bob Geldner, who was a Posse member, included 15 pontoons from cabin owners for more than 70 youth, and players, coaches and office personnel from the Viking’s organization.
