Tri-City United Schools is one of about 10 schools to try out an expanding partnership program with Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSUM) called RESEPI, which is short for Rural Experiential STEM (science, engineering, technology and mathematics) Education Partnership Initiative.
The program was piloted by MSUM last year in Mankato’s three public schools with hopes to expand the program to about 100-plus school districts in the 2027-2028 school year and hopefully to all the 277 non-metro school districts in the state eventually.

A “Meet Your Candidates” event has been coordinated by Jean Keogh at the sponsoring Revival on Main ahead of this year’s mid-term elections on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Area residents are encouraged to attend this free event to hear from and ask questions to candidates for Minnesota Senate District 22, Minnesota House District 22B, Le Sueur County, City of Montgomery, and Tri-City United School District #2905.
Social period will start at 6:30 p.m., with kolacky, cookies, coffee, and a cash bar, where residents will be able to interact directly with candidates.
SOL-I.S. Technology Solutions gave the first of about four-to-five more learning events sponsored by the Montgomery, Lonsdale, Northfield, Belle Plaine, and Elko New Market chambers of commerce. These events are free for chamber members.

The workshops will teach people who live and work in agricultural communities how to recognize when someone may be struggling and help connect them with support.
Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church pews were filled on Tuesday, Aug. 25, with family and friends celebrating the life of Mick McGuire at his funeral.
Nate Goldenman read a eulogy at the beginning of the service. McGuire’s brother, Dan McGuire, was Mick McGuire’s urn bearer, which remained both an honor and privilege and saddening reminder of everyone’s loss in the community.
A reception was held following the service at the Revival on Main in Montgomery. Outside the hall was Mick McGuire’s truck with his homemade canoe attached to the top.
