Elysian man faces felony for fleeing officer

An Elysian man has been charged with a felony after he fled a police officer in a motor vehicle.

Bryan William Fries, 37, of Elysian faces a felony charge in Le Sueur County Court for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Four misdemeanor charges, all tied to the same incident, have also been filed against Fries for having violated a domestic abuse no-contact order, domestic assault, possession of more than 1.4 grams of marijuana in a vehicle, and having an open bottle of alcohol in a vehicle. The charges were filed February 16.

According to court documents, a police officer was dispatched to a Bridge Street residence in Le Sueur at approximately 1:21 a.m. on February 13 for a report of a violation of an order for protection involving Fries. The individual reporting the incident told law enforcement that Fries had threatened lethal violence by means of a hatchet.

When the officer arrived on scene, he saw Fries’ vacant vehicle parked, but running, in an alley. The officer parked behind the truck and activated his emergency lights.
