Marian L. Wagner went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2020, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 27 days. She had been a resident at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home for the past few months.
Funeral services will be held at North Morristown Fourth of July Grounds on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Juan Palm, officiating. Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.
A gathering will be held at the Grounds for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.
Marian Louise Lydia Ahlmann was born on October 6, 1927, at 8:35 p.m. to Ernest John
Herman Ahlmann and Minnie Henrietta Wilhelmina (Meschke) Ahlmann, at St. Lucas Hospital
in Faribault. When asked how old she was, she happily shared her age and then told the story
of her birth. It was a miracle birth as far as her parents were concerned. Minnie was working
outside and took a nasty spill. The doctor needed to be called out to the farm. He checked
Minnie over and told Ernest that he would try to save his wife, but there was no hope for the
baby. Minnie was transported to the hospital by "ambulance" which was like riding in a lumber
wagon. A cesarean surgery was performed and Marian came into the world alive. The hospital
bill for 14 days was $84.00.
Marian was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was baptized, confirmed and married there. She attended grade school at Dist. No. 99, which was located down the road
from where she lived. She walked to and from school and also came home to eat lunch. Marian also attended Trinity Lutheran School, North Morristown for 7th and 8th grade. She graduated in June, 1941. She attended high school in Morristown and graduated in May, 1945.
After graduation she lived in Faribault and worked at Montgomery Ward and the Braille School.
On July 1, 1948, she married Martin Carl Wagner. They made their home at the Wagner farm a short distance from where she had grown up. They remained there for almost 40 years, at
which time they moved to the farm where she had been born and raised. Marian lived there
until recently. Marian was active in her church serving in various positions with the Ladies Aid
until about a year ago, and she was Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
In later years (after retirement) Marian worked at an apple orchard, Camp Omega and Coast to Coast. She enjoyed the people and the extra spending money was an added bonus.
She is survived by her 4 children, Cynthia (Carleton) Braem, Charles (Pamela) Wagner, Terry (Susan) Wagner and Timothy (Sheri) Wagner, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, her parents, grandson, William Wagner, her sisters, Lucille (Joseph) Engelmeyer, and Lorraine (Gordon) Hoffman, and her sisters-in-law, Lenora (Paul) Hachfeld and Florence (James) Donahoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectively asks that gifts may be given to Trinity Lutheran School, Camp Omega, or Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
