Football team begins season with 36-12 win over Le Sueur-Henderson

The visiting Titans delivered a resounding win when they beat the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants 36-12 in their season-opener on Friday, Oct. 9.

TCU didn’t waste any time putting themselves on the board. They won the toss, but deferred and gave the Giants first action. The team executed three plays but failed to get a first down, forcing them to punt.

The Titans’ first possession started with a return to the Giants’ 30-yard line. Just five to six plays later, Matthew Rabenberg put his team on the board with a five-yard reception from sophomore quarterback Payton Hennen.

TCU’s second possession started at their own 42-yard line. The Titans mixed up their plays on the ground and in the air, with completions to Rabenberg, Gabe Robinson, and Blaschko before Reice Narum gave the TCU its second touchdown with a 14-yard run.

The Giants came alive in the second quarter, turning the Titans over on downs on back-to-back possessions, trying to keep things close. Their offense had a difficult time getting to where they wanted to be on the field, compared to TCU that had approximately 15 first downs and 159 yards through the air and 80 yards in rushing in the first half.

Seconds before the clock ran out before the break, TCU added another touchdown. The big play was in 16 seconds - with a 75-yard pass from Hennen to Adam Henze to bring the half-time score to 20-0 for TCU.
