Despite wet and rainy conditions in Montgomery, the Tri-City United girl’s team took second place at their Invitational on Monday, May 14. The girls finished with 122.5 points, behind Belle Plaine’s 181. Other schools competing were Jordan (3rd place, 115.5), Le Sueur-Henderson (89) and St. Clair Immanuel Lutheran (42).

Coach Brian Fogal was pleased with the results.

“I was really excited with our team. Placing second behind Conference Champs Belle Plaine was a big accomplishment for us. We ran really well in the rain. It was nice to see the weather conditions did not diminish our improved times and jumps,” he said. “We are continuing to improve each week going to the Conference Championships on Thursday and Sub Sections next week. I feel we are in a very good place going into the next two weeks.”

The women’s team took first place in the 4x400-meter run with a time of 4:27.10, followed by Belle Plaine’s team with a time of 4:29.

The Titans didn’t have any other first place finishes, but several of the athletes broke personal records. Holly Schendel set a personal record and took third in the long jump with a distance of 14.04. Schnedel also set another PR in the 100 with a time of 14.11.

According to athletic.net, Grace Factor took third in the 200, setting a new personal record with her time of 28.60.

Gabby Robinson also set some PRs. In the 400, she took third with a time of 1:04, just three-tenths of a second behind Belle Plaine’s Lizzy Schmidt who took first with a time of 1:01. Robinson also set a season record in the 800, taking second with a time of 2:30.
