JV soccer team ties 3-3 at season opener

The junior varsity soccer team’s quick start with goals coming early helped them finish with a tie game at their season opener against Jordan on August 27.

Coach Carey Langer said the team’s energy allowed the team to protect their lead until midway through the second half when they gave up back-to-back goals.

“We were down 3-2 with about five minutes left in the game, 8th grader Rafael Balcazar scored to tie the game 3-3. Rafael’s goal toward the end of the game really brought some excitement as we had let the lead slip away, but we finished strong and were able to bring it back to even,” he stated. “The heat index of the day played a huge role in the last five minutes of the game as both teams were clearly gassed and tired.”
