My buns are done

It seems like this year’s Kolacky Days was two years in the making. After last year, it was nice to see people getting together and coming to our town for our fantastic festival.

Yes, it was hot, but not oppressively so. I applaud the Montgomery Area Community Club (MACC) and its list of volunteers for putting on another great multi-day event. A festival like ours does not happen over night, nor, does it happen from the work of one person. In my opinion, they did a great job throughout the year, not knowing exactly what kind of festival they would eventually be able to put on.

As an outsider of the MACC, the festival around our Bohemian Bun appears to have gone without a hitch. We didn’t have storms (yeah!), and the MACC planned for the heat with ample tents for shade (THANK YOU for that!!) and some misters for added cooling.

The Queen’s Pageant was - again - spectacular! The committee responsible for organizing this always does a fantastic job. When my daughter was royalty and we attended pageants in other cities, none could compare to ours. Well-done!! Having it again in the TCU Performing Arts Center with technology (and comfy seats!) made the pageant even better than before!

Congratulations to the our new ambassadors: Queen Grace Barnett, First Princess Ellaina Novak, Second Princess Ronni Smith, and Miss Congeniality Aubrey Filter. They are going to have a busy year, and I know they’ll do a great job promoting Montgomery.

Between staff writer Lisa Ingebrand and myself, it was a busy weekend covering the events at the same time trying to enjoy some things. I accomplished both (I think).

Now to give these buns a rest!
