TCU Prom is Saturday

Tri-City United prom-goers will take a “Trip Around the World” on Saturday, April 27.

According to advisor Carolyn Harmeyer, that theme will be represented as the couples walk in the Grand March that starts at 4 p.m. in the TCU High School Gymnasium. There is a $2 entrance fee for the public for that event.

After Grand March, the students will have their dinner and dance at the Wabasha Street Caves in St. Paul. Harmeyer said this was changed from the previous location that is having flooding problems.

After the dance, students will be bused to the Dakotah Sports and Fitness Center for the traditional lock-in. Michelle Borchardt, who sits on the Post Prom Committee said the prom-goers will have a lot of things to entertain them during the night.

“They will have access to ice skating, bowling, mini-bowling, arcade games, swimming/water slides and more,” she said.

The location and activities were ones the students suggested.

“We surveyed our kids earlier this school year and asked them what they wanted to do and a few things really stood out. They didn't want to just go back to the high school. They wanted to do something different, something with more activities,” Borchardt stated. “We looked at quite a few options but price, location and the amount of different types of activities really made Dakotah a great fit for us. The kids are excited to try something different.”
