TCU Wrestlers fall in regional action
After winning two matches, the Tri-City United wrestling team fell to Waconia in the semi-finals of the class 2AA regional tournament held in Delano on Saturday.
Tri-City United was seeded 6th in the tournament and faced Glencoe-Lester Prairie in its first matchup of the day. Tri-City United came away with a commanding 61-9 victory over Glencoe-Lester Prairie, who was seeded 11th in the tournament.
After beating Glencoe-Lester Prairie the wrestlers took on third seeded Delano. The final team score was 42-23, which advanced Tri-City United into the semi-finals of the tournament.
In the semi-finals Tri-City United faced the number two seed, Waconia. The final team score was 16-51 in favor of Waconia.
As of the tournament, both Johnson and Reyes remained in the top 10 rankings for Class 2AA two consecutive rankings. Johnson is ranked 9th in the 120 pound weight class, while Reyes is ranked 8th in the 220 pound weight class. Moving up into the Class 2AA top 10 rankings were Caleb Whipps at 126 pounds and Tyler Schroer at 182 pounds, both in 10th place, respectively.
