Titans fall to MVL in North Sub-Section

The final game of the 2022-23 boys basketball season for the Tri-City United squad was played Tuesday, March 7 at New Ulm.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated the Titans, 79-53, using a strong second half to advance. MVL won the North Sub-Section Championship and will play Maple River for the Section 2AA Championship Thursday.

The Titans held their own against MVL, trailing only 32-37 at halftime. MVL, a perimeter-oriented team, was able to make enough shots, get out in transition, and give themselves ample opportunities with the multitude of offensive rebounds they were grabbing, especially in the second half.

The Titans were able to pull down 34 total rebounds, with 17 offensive and 17 defensive. Tri-City United definitely got their shooting opportunities, but shot it under 30 percent from two-point land (9-of-30), and just under 33 percent overall (16-of-49). They assisted on 10 of their 16 made field goals. The Titans also turned it over 17 times, which attributed to the Crusaders getting out and running in transition.
