County names Messenger second legal newspaper

The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners held their 2020 Reorganizational Meeting Tuesday, Jan. 7 in Le Center.

Fifth District Commissioner Steve Rohlfing was named the Board Chairman and Second District Commissioner Danny O’Keefe was named the Board Vice Chairman.

The Le Sueur County News was named the 2020 first legal newspaper. The Montgomery Messenger was named the second legal newspaper.

Mileage reimbursement for Le Sueur County employees will be 57.5 cents per mile, in accordance with the federal IRS mileage rate.

In other Le Sueur County Board business: * Assistant project manager Madison Young of Adolfson & Peterson Construction presented 27 contracts to the commissioners from the Le Sueur County Justice Center project.

These contracts included two which reduced the retainage from five percent to one percent (two businesses), reducing retainage from one percent to zero (one business), and release the final retainage (24 businesses).

According to Young, there are 15 remaining open contracts on this project. She said they should be finalized within the next couple of months.

* Sheriff Brett Mason presented a DNR snowmobile grant and a joint powers agreement with the National Incident-Based Reporting System for approval.

The DNR grant the county will receive was in the amount of $8,752, which will be paid in two installments this year, may be used for a tracker.

The joint powers agreement is for mandatory reporting to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (FBA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The county will pay $8,000 for this service but will be reimbursed by the BCA.
