Graduated from Walnut Grove High School, Walnut Grove, MN, and Hamline University, St. Paul, MN.  Taught and coached at Tartan HS and No. St. Paul.

Preceded in death by his parents Fred & Lorraine Schmiesing.

Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years Carol (Wolsky) Schmiesing; his children, John Schmiesing (Jennifer), Amy Rafter, Sally Aristizabal (Camilo); and his grandchildren, Ella, Lily, Penny, Adam, & Lucia; and his siblings, Milan (Karen), Larry (Teresa), and Faye, David (Charlene) & Charles Wolsky.  

Fred was always ready to help out anyone in need.  He was an inspiration and role model to many players he coached and students in the classroom.  He was an outstanding family man and worked endlessly to provide and give opportunities to his children.  He coached with his son John, until his death.  He will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

For the convenience of his family, his celebration of life will not be until July 13, 2018 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Prague, MN.
