The Lonsdale Chamber of Commerce aimed to bring celebration, community, and connections to the annual Lonsdale Community Days town celebration that happened this year on Saturday, Aug. 13.

“It was another successful event in the books. The weather was a little cooler than anticipated but the people came out in record numbers,” said Shanna Gutzke-Kupp Executive Director of the Lonsdale Chamber of Commerce. “I don’t have final numbers yet but we expect to see the numbers exceed 2021. The parade and car show/ cruise definitely drew in the crowds to both North and Main Street, along with the band Good For Gary that performed on the Main Stage.”

More than two dozen food and craft stands lined Main Street and brought people to downtown. Gutzke-Kupp heard positive feedback from all of the vendors, with one food vendor running out of food toward the end of the night.

The jam-packed, one-day event aims to promote Lonsdale and everything it offers. The celebration benefits its residents as well as visitors.

“One of the many reasons we hold a city festival is to promote the city of Lonsdale along with the businesses. It truly gives us the opportunity to showcase to others what we have to offer here,” Gutzke-Kupp said. “JoAnn Erikson from Somethin’ Tasty & Something For All stated that it brought a lot of new people to her businesses, many of whom came back after the event.”

Lisa Tousignant from the new business, RR Revival also stated she saw a lot of new faces from town and surrounding areas.

“It was one of my top days since I opened in May,” she said.

Of course, Lonsdale Community Days couldn’t happen by GutzkeKupp herself. She credits the Lonsdale Community Day committee chairs and Lonsdale Board of Directors for their support and following her vision to help make this event grow year after year.

“Thank you also to all of our sponsors, vendors, and volunteers who help make this event happen. We honestly would not be successful without their continued support and generous donations and contributions,” she said. “We will debrief our event and review feedback from 2022 and start planning for 2023 next month. We hope to have you join us for Lonsdale Community Day on August 12, 2023!”
