Brandon Dennis Witt, 50

Brandon Dennis Witt, age 50, of New Prague, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, August 16, 2024, after a 5 year fight with colorectal cancer. He was born November 12, 1973, in St. Paul to Ken and Lana (Schmid) Witt. Brandon graduated from New Prague High School in 1992, and followed in his father's footsteps toward a lifelong construction and excavation career.

Brandon married his high school sweetheart, Jennifer McNamara, in 1995. They shared a wonderful 29 years together and raised two children, Taylor and Sami. Brandon was co-owner of K.A. Witt Construction with his brother Jason Witt. Brandon enjoyed scuba diving, hockey, bird watching, motorsport racing, using his 3D printer and CNC machine, operating excavation equipment, attending Pioneer Power and antique tool events, restoring old machinery, and spending time with his family, including his beloved pets.

Brandon was goal-oriented and exceptionally motivated to learn. It amazed those around him how quickly he could pick up on new skills and how willingly he opted to take projects on himself rather than seek the help of others. Brandon was an excellent fabricator, an adept carpenter, and a skilled mechanic. He was often found in his shop working with metal, wood, or various machinery. It is not hyperbole to say that Brandon never met a machine he couldn’t fix, or quickly figure out how to fix. He much preferred the old to the new and was and was a major proponent of the saying, “they just don’t make ‘em like they used to!”

To his family, Brandon was much more than a talented craftsman. To his children, he was a role model, a coach, a teacher, an unrelenting provider, and a compassionate father. To his wife, he was a dedicated family man, a source of joy and strength, and a companion for life. Brandon and Jenny lived a simple life in which togetherness was the ultimate expression of love. Brandon chose his words wisely and spoke meaningfully. He prioritized family over all else in his life. He gave his whole heart to them and wanted nothing but their love in return, which he earned many, many times over. He loved hunting and fishing, but not as many do; his favorite part was time spent outside in nature with people he loved, not the kill or catch. Annual hunting and fishing trips provided memories of uninterrupted quality time spent with close and extended family. His love for the outdoors is exemplified by the many natural resource conservation projects he and Jenny completed on their property.

Brandon is survived by his loving wife, Jenny Witt; son Taylor (Gaby) Witt, daughter Sami Witt; parents Ken and Lana Witt; siblings Jason (Nancy) Witt, Jennifer Clancy, Chris (Karin) Witt; nieces and nephews Jake (Maggie) Witt, Ben (Maggie, Eleanor, Charlie) Witt, Hunter Witt (Sydney Guerrette), Alissa (Austin) Arceneaux, Tristan Clancy, Luke Witt, Isabelle Clancy. He is preceded in death by baby sister Alissa Witt; cousin Jeff Schmid; and best friend Paul Holasek.

A celebration of life was held Wednesday, August 28, at Bruzek Funeral Home with Craig Howse officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the Brandon Witt Scholarship Fund at First Bank & Trust in New Prague.
