Family and friends organize fundraiser for Joel Loose and family
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “If you want a friend, you need to be a friend.” For many in New Prague, the quote likely describes Joel Loose and his wife, Chris. The couple has been involved in the community either through Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the community theater group, Generations Theatre Company, plus many other events.
Along the way they’ve made many friends. Four of those friends, Rev. Diane Goulson, Daryl Bauer, Kathy Gage and Sandy Morris, are organizing a Sunday Nov. 19, fundraiser for Joel and his family. The fundraiser will be at The Depot in New Prague from 4-8 p.m. and includes a pulled-pork dinner, desserts, a silent auction (online at 32auctions.com) and a drawing for a Mississippi River cruise.
In December 2022 Loose had a combined operation for a double lung transplant and triple-bypass heart surgery. He said one of the surgeons described it as once they were under the hood, they should fix everything. Loose spent two months at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.
