“So many roads we have crossed,

So many hills we have climbed,

So many dreams yet to conquer.”

The New Prague High School Class of 2018 will say goodbye to each other during commencement ceremonies Friday, May 25, at Trojan Stadium. Their class motto, above, tells so much about what is in store for these students.

This year’s class includes 306 students, many of whom will go on to college and careers and a future that they have meticulously planned and prepared for. Just as many will have opportunities they haven’t even dreamed of. Some will see their dreams change, for whatever reason.

And that’s what is so exciting about this time of life for these graduates. They don’t know what the future holds. A person could go to college intending to study one thing, only to discover another field that interests them more. They can cross all the roads and climb all the hills, only to discover that their dreams have changed. A potential scientist can discover art; a potential teacher can discover writing; a prospective lawyer can discover theatre… Their future has so many possibilities.

That future is based on the foundation they have developed as they grew up. In a perfect world, their families, their friends, their classmates, their teachers have all given them the tools they will need to succeed in life. Some will find success easily, others will see their dreams develop more slowly. The potential is there. It is up to these graduates to see that potential.

The New Prague Times salutes the members of the Class of 2018. We wish all of you success and hope you take the values you learned as part of this community with you wherever life takes you.
