The New Prague City Council recognized Suzanne Roushar at its Monday, July 15, meeting. She will be retiring from her position as a police records/clerk and typist on Wednesday, July 31. Roushar has served as a city employee for more than 25 years, the majority of that with the New Prague Police Department.

There were 14 people at the meeting, most from the police department or family members of Roushar.

City Administrator Mike Johnson detailed her career with the city, noting that while researching it they found her original application from 1993. She began as a city employee on October 4, 1993 when she was hired as a part-time employee in the Administration Department as a secretary/billing clerk. It was in 1995 that she moved to the police department as a part-time clerk typist. She became a full time employee on October 23, 1997 where she has worked for more than 21 years.

Johnson said that Police Chief Jim Gareis described Roushar as soft spoken, compassionate, extremely humble, dependable, and has always shown the highest level of integrity.

“Sue will be missed by the entire staff, organization, community, police officers and public who have come to know her through the years,” said Johnson.

He presented her with a plaque recognizing her for her years of service.

“This is amazing, it means a lot to me,” said Roushar. “I’m so happy to have had the chance to work for the city.” She added she was very proud to have been able to work with many wonderful officers, three police chiefs and “the best coworker” her fellow employee records technician Judy Cervenka. “It has been quite an experience. I can’t believe I’m at this point,” said Roushar. “I’m looking forward to the future. This has been the most wonderful experience I have ever had.”
