Dixie Claire Settergren, 87

Dixie Claire Settergren, 87, of New Prague, died peacefully Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis. 

Dixie was born November 23, 1930 to James and Edrie (Lindquist) Dougherty. She graduated from Minneapolis West High School. Growing up,  she enjoyed time with her grandparents in Marine on Saint Croix and time with cousins on Lake Minnetonka.  She worked as a receptionist at KSTP and was a wedding planner at Dayton's.

She married Harry Settergren September 29, 1956, and settled in Dellwood, Minnesota, where they raised their family. She volunteered at Saint Jude's Elementary, Saint Paul Children's Hospital and other various charities.  They enjoyed retirement in Scottsdale, Arizona, and lived in White Bear Lake and Lilydale. She spent her last years in New Prague. 

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Edrie (Lindquist) Dougherty, husband Harry Settergren, mother-in-law Inga Settergren,  brother-in-law John Settergren, sister-in-law Mary (Pat) Egan, nephew Michael Egan and great-nephew Riley Settergren. 

Dixie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is survived by daughter Jennifer (Chuck) Kajer of New Prague;  son James (Geraldine) Settergren of Duluth; special grandchildren Joshua (Angela) Kajer of Lonsdale, Andrew Kajer of St. Paul, Robert Kajer of Duluth and Richard Settergren of Duluth; great-grandchild Alice Kajer and many wonderful nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held April 20, 2018 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Stanford Avenue, Saint Paul, Minnesota. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. and service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are with O’Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home in St. Paul.
