Girls come from behind to top Chaska

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team split a pair of non-conference games last week, losing to Bloomington Kennedy and rebounding with a win over Chaska. The Trojans are 2-7 on the season and were scheduled to face Rochester Century on Tuesday, Dec. 19. New Prague hosts Lakeville South on Thursday, Dec. 21, then will return to action after Christmas with a home game against Blaine at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29.

Eagles 60, Trojans 49 New Prague and Bloomington Kennedy battled in a back-and-forth contest that saw the Eagles finish strong and claim a 60-49 win at New Prague Tuesday, Dec. 12. New Prague was led by Emily Russo, who had 21 points. McKenzie Holgate added 13, while Sally Traxler had 6 points off the bench. Also scoring for the Trojans were Kate Seymour, and Makayla Shimek with 2 points each and Izzy Blanchard and Amanda Giesen with 1 each. "It was a back-and-forth battle, but I don’t feel we played well at all start to finish. We were still able to keep things competitive throughout," Coach Luke Swedberg said.
