Holy Trinity Lutheran Church continues Thanksgiving tradition

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague continued its tradition of providing Thanksgiving meals for families and individuals on Sunday, Nov. 22, but there were some changes. Due to the pandemic the church had people drive through the church’s parking lot where volunteers put the ready to make free meals in vehicles’ trunks.

“We wanted to do something this year since we couldn’t do the usual,” said Donna Galvin, Hospitality Coordinator at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

The church usually has volunteers prepare a Thanksgiving dinner in the church’s kitchen and then serves people who are unable to get together with family or may be alone over the holiday. The event usually brings together about 100 people or more. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent surge in cases, the Minnesota Department of Health and other medical groups are advising against such gatherings to help stop the spread of the disease.
