Kathleen E. Bruzelius, 77

Kathleen E. Bruzelius, age 77, of New Prague, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 1, 2019, surrounded by her husband and family, some near and some far—but all dear. Kathleen was born on April 22, 1942 in San Rafael, CA to Edward and Helen (Truelson) Mullin.  She graduated from Talent High School (Talent, OR) in 1960 after marrying her husband, Kenneth Bruzelius, on May 9, 1959 at the Assembly of God Church in Medford, Oregon. The couple celebrated their 60th Anniversary this spring.
Kathleen and Kenneth worked together in service to the Lord throughout their marriage, first as pastors, and later helping to start up Spirit of Life Church in New Prague and Triumphant Life Church in Lonsdale, MN. The couple was also involved with The Gideons. Kathleen led Women’s Ministries, Missionettes, and Vacation Bible School; she decorated the church for special events and holidays, and sang and played in the choir and bell choir. She also played piano and organ at church when called upon. In her later years, she took up the drums to keep the beat of the hymns at a lively pace.

Kathleen was a homemaker and the couple raised four children; Keith, Kari, Kevin, and Kristen. She entertained her family and herself with a wide variety of interests, including sewing matching dresses for her and her daughters, quilting, knitting, painting, ceramics, flower arranging, candle making, beadwork, and perennial gardening. In her later years she was a vociferous reader and had arguments with the cat.
She loved family vacations in Northhome, MN each summer and enjoyed visiting extended family members along with their families in California and Oregon.

Kathlen was a foodie before being a foodie was cool, and she bought the first wok in her neighborhood. She used it to explore Chinese food, including egg rolls and won tons.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; children, Keith (Cheri) Bruzelius, Kari (Robert) Clarillos, Kevin (Brenda) Bruzelius, Kristen Harbour; grandchildren, Timothy (Laura), DeAnna, Allyssa, Nathaniel, Erich, Zachery (Lyssa Lou), Josiah (Jewel), and Miles; great grandchildren, McKenna, Emerson, and Sawyer; and sister, Linda (Gordon) Duvaul. She is preceded in death by her father, Theodore Roosevelt Mullin; mother, Helen (Traulson) Mullin; sister, Jenny Bowhall; nephew, Steve Slater; and niece, Jan Hackett.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held Saturday, July 6 at Triumphant Life Church in Lonsdale, MN, 221 2nd Avenue NW 55046 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
