Lorraine C. Schoenbauer, 100

Lorraine C. Schoenbauer, age 100, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side and entered Heaven on the same day as Pope Francis, on Monday, April 21, 2025, at her home at Praha Village.  Lorraine was born on March 11, 1925, in Jordan, MN, to Gerhard and Elizabeth (Beckman) Hartmann.  She graduated from Jordan High School and she met a young man at a dance in Jordan.  It took Eugene three times asking her for the honor of a dance before she agreed.  There must have been some magic happening because she married Eugene N. Schoenbauer on May 20, 1950, in Jordan!  Raising six children and helping Eugene on the farm kept her busy but she became a dedicated volunteer at Mala Strana Nursing Home once the children had left the nest.  A woman of great faith, she was an active member of Ladies Guild (now Council of Catholic Women).  Her beautiful gardens fed her love of gardening.

She remained active throughout her 100 years, serving as a role model for the residents at Praha Village, encouraging them by her dedication to walking and staying active.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, a good piece of chocolate, and was an avid card player, enjoying Euchre, Sheephead, 3-13, and 500.  Always kind and friendly, Lorraine’s love of people and outgoing personality will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Donna Roberts of McKinney, TX, Leroy (Pamela) Schoenbauer of New Prague, Diane (Dave) Winblad of Lakeville, Lloyd (Lori) Schoenbauer of New Prague, Laura (Pete) Lecher of North Branch; daughter-in-law, Mary Schoenbauer of Belle Plaine; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with another on the way in November.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on September 20, 2001; son, Dennis; granddaughter and husband, Melissa & Tom Kerber; granddaughter, Mary Ellen Schoenbauer; brother & wife, Gilbert (RoseMary) Hartmann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating.  Visitation will take place at church from 10-11 a.m.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall.
