Mary Palma, 80
Mary V. Palma, age 80, of New Prague, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at White Pine Assisted Living and Memory Care. She was born on May 29, 1938, in Evanston, IL to David V. and Teresa R. (Ormond) Wenzel, Sr. The family moved several times when Mary was a child before finally settling in St. Paul. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing as an RN and began a life that fulfilled her passion for nursing. She married Edward F. Palma on May 28, 1960 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in St. Paul and they moved a few times until settling in Bloomington where Mary worked at HCMC. They finally settled on Ed’s parents’ farm in New Prague, where they raised their four children, farmed, and Mary resumed her career in nursing at Parkview Clinic, where she remained for over 30 years. After retiring from the clinic, she worked for Metro Auto Sales in Savage on a part-time basis for a few years before full retirement. Mary loved to play bridge with the members of her Bridge Club. Music was a big part of her life and she loved to play the piano and organ and sing. Other leisure activities found her gardening, painting, knitting, canning, and cooking. Throughout her life Mary’s family and grandchildren were her greatest joy and the loves of her life.
