New ENM Police Department on schedule
Elko New Market expects to have a new building for its police department later this year as construction on the new structure is progressing on schedule. Greystone Construction of Shakopee is the main contractor on the project, which will add approximately 6,360-square feet to Elko New Market’s City Hall.
The new building is going up behind City Hall and floor plans include an area for evidence storage, meeting space, work stations and two interview rooms with one for meeting with residents and the other for intoxicated individuals. There will also be a garage to park four vehicles, plus a public lobby. Greystone Construction had the lowest bid for the project, which was $1,663,635. Their bid came in under the official estimated bid of $1.9 million.
The outside of the new police department is mostly complete and matches the exterior of the current building, which houses City Hall and the city’s volunteer Fire Department. Crews are currently working on the interior of the building, including installing walls, wiring and other features.
