Robert E. Barta, 69

Robert E. Barta, age 69, of Prior Lake, died suddenly after complications of heart surgery at Fairview Southdale Hospital.  Bob was born on June 11, 1949 in St. Paul.  He grew up in Columbia Heights, graduated from high school there, and went on to attend Mankato State University. Before he finished his college education, he entered the US Air Force and was stationed in Minot, ND, where he worked on the Minuteman Missile program.  After his military service, he came back to the Twin Cities and worked as an engineering technician for Univac and eventually for Seagate Technologies.  On August 9, 1986, he married Brenda Lee Blackman in Burnsville, MN.  Bob loved everything related to nature and the outdoors, particularly hunting.  He was noted for his beautiful gardens, cooking, and making wine.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Lee Blackman Barta of Prior Lake; siblings, Stan (Doreen) Barta, Chris (Gary) Quandt, Jim (Joan) Barta, Dee (Brady) Dreyer, Angie (John) Gappa, Tim (Sue) Barta, Joan Barta, Betsy (Tim) Dalluge; sister-in-law, Janice (John) LePore; many nieces and nephews and their families.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Angeline Barta; brother, John Barta.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague with Reverend Robert Braudt of River Hills United Methodist Church officiating.  Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to service.  Burial will occur at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale.  In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. bruzekfuneralhome.com
