Trojan softball stays alive in 1AAAA

The New Prague Trojans lost in extra innings in the second round of the Section 1AAAA softball tournament, as the Lakeville North Panthers scored in the top of the eighth inning to take a 2-1 win Thursday, May 24. 

The top-seeded Trojans, ranked No. 5 in the state, rebounded with a 10-0 win over Rochester Mayo in an elimination game to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament. 

The Trojans will face Rochester John Marshall, the No. 3 seed, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Todd Park in Austin. At the same time, Lakeville North will face Farmington in a winner’s bracket game. The winner of the elimination game faces the loser of the other game at 6 p.m. Friday. The winner of the 6 p.m. game advances to the section final at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 31, and will have to win twice on Thursday to advance to the state tournament.
