Trojan tennis drops 3 matches
The New Prague Trojan tennis team competed in three mets last week, losing to Mound Westonka, Delano and Prior Lake.
The Trojans were scheduled to face Holy Family Catholic on Tuesday, May 1. They are at Orono on Thursday, May 3, and will host Waseca on Saturday, May 5, at 9 a.m.
They begin their final week of the regular season with four meets in four days, all at home, beginning Monday, May 7, agains Southwest Christian. They host Litchfield Tuesday, May 8, Northfield Wednesday, May 9 and Mankato West on Thursday, May 10.
Whitehawks 7, Trojans 0 New Prague was outmatched against the No. 5-ranked team in Class A, losing to Mound Westonka 7-0 Tuesday, April 24.
Sam Lambrecht was the only Trojan to win a set at No. 4 singles. He lost 6- 1, 5-7, 10-5. Other singles players were Evan Zimmer, Justin Klegstad and Jacob Wilson.
Losing in doubles were Jack Guerrette/ Jacob Anderson, Zach Sirek/Luke Schoenbauer and Tom Carroll/Sagan Shetka.
"This was a good match for us. We had to consider the element of wind and how to strategically place the ball with the wind factor. We played a tough opponent in Mound Westonka,” Coach Ben Hilding said.
