Two businesses temporarily closing due to COVID-19

Two New Prague businesses have temporarily closed due to COVID-19. The Yoga Tree and City Club Bar closed early last week.

The staff of The Yoga Tree along 10th Avenue NE sent out a notice to its students on Wednesday, July 1, that they were informed by a student that they had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for the virus as of Tuesday, June 30. The staff noted anyone who attended class on Monday, June 29 and/or Tuesday, June 30, to please take the necessary care and precaution as mandated by government guidelines.

“We have decided to err on the side of caution and suspend all classes effective immediately,” according to the notice. It was decided that the business will close for at least two weeks. “We will keep ourselves informed and educated during this pause and reassess the situation when making a judgement on how to most safely proceed for you and our community as a whole.”

The notice also stated that at this time the staff has no knowledge of any person attending the Yoga Tree studio that has tested positive for COVID-19.

At City Club Bar along Main Street NW, a note on the door stated “For the safety of our employees and customers City Club is closed due to COVID-19.”

New Prague Police Chief Jim Gareis said they were notified and found out visitors to the bar had likely been the cause.

Customers who had been at the business since the week of Monday, June 22, should take appropriate measures.

According to Scott County as of Monday, July 6, the total number of those testing positive for COVID-19 cases in Scott County were 734 with four deaths. These numbers are....
