Elizabeth Alice (Currer) Wolf, 100

Elizabeth Alice (Currer) Wolf, age 100 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at her home at Milestone Senior Living.

She was born in St. Paul, MN on March 25, 1918.  She was a 1936 graduate of Minnehaha Academy before she went on to earn her two-year teaching degree at Winona State Teacher’s College.  She founded the first kindergarten in Stewartville and then taught in Faribault before she married Woodrow Wolf, a farmer in Nerstrand.  They became parents to three children who later found careers in education and ministry.  Beth taught in Morristown and in Nerstrand.  She persevered and finished her four-year degree at Mankato State Teachers College.  The family moved from Woody’s home place to a street named Home Place near Jefferson School where she taught until her retirement in 1983.

Her leadership qualities led her to work in many groups such as Christian Women’s Club, the P.T.A., and the Pioneer 4-H Club.  She was often asked to sing solos for weddings and funerals.  She formed a trio group in which she sang for forty years.  She became a member of Golden Notes, the Rice County Historical Society, and the Faribault Area Senior Citizens.  Always active in church work, she was Sunday School Superintendent, the choir leader, and President of United Methodist Women.  She loved nature, especially her garden with the vegetables, colorful flowers, and milkweeds to feed those hungry caterpillars to become Monarchs.  She was a great collector and shared her memorabilia of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Norman Rockwell, Charles Schulz, the Dionne Quintuplets, and her unique inspirational nativity sets.

Preceding her in death were her parents Henry Post Currer and Margaret Porter Currer, her brothers David and Robert, as well as her husband Woodrow C. Wolf.  She will be deeply missed by her three children, Nancy Turner of LaQuinta, CA, Suzanne Keist of Austin, MN and Rev. Dean Wolf of Mankato, MN.  She leaves behind four grandchildren: Jon Turner (Kastle) of Lone Pine, CA and Saipan, Jolene Turner of LaQuinta, CA, Brian Keist (Ashley) of St. Paul, and Ben Keist (Nannette) of Minneapolis.  Her great-grandchildren are three seven year-olds: Santiago Garcia, Beckett Keist, Isla Turner, and ten-month old Amelia Elizabeth Keist.

The memorial service for Beth will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Faribault with Pastor Greg Ciesluk, officiating, followed by a lunch at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault.  Interment will be held at a later date at the Nerstrand Evangelical Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family prefers that memorials in Elizabeth Wolf’s memory be directed to the Lift Project at Fourth Avenue United Methodist in Faribault.
