Locals to perform in 6th annual Mankato Opry Jamboree

The 6th annual Mankato Opry Jamboree Christmas Show will be held this weekend, Friday, Nov. 29, Saturday, Nov. 30, and Sunday, Nov. 30 at the nostalgic Kato Ballroom in Mankato.
If you’ve never been to the Mankato Opry you need to go. People that have gone have stated this show is just like they do down in Branson. It’s a fun show packed with country music and a sprinkle of Christmas tunes. This is a great way to kick-off the holidays. Come hear country music, from the 1950’s to the 90’s, and Christmas songs. If you’ve been to shows in the past you know that each year is different.
If you’ve never been to a show, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!
Net proceeds this year are going to The Make A Wish Foundation, CADA House in Mankato (a women’s abuse shelter), The FOCP Back- Pack program (which helps to feed children) and to area schools music programs. Waterville and Morristown each received a piano, Janesville elementary school was given a full set of chimes, Waseca junior high received a bunch of guitars for their guitar program, just to name a few of the recipients in the area over the past five years. During that time, they have donated more than $50,000 to different organizations in need.
“I know I can speak on behalf of the entire Opry family. We all feel so blessed to be a part of the Mankato Opry Jamboree, to be able to do something we love to do, and give back at the same time.” Brenda Kopischke, one of the organizers of the event said.
Once again sisters, Brenda Kopischke and Lynda Kiesler, daughters of Duane and Carol Wendt and graduates of Waterville-Elysian, are participating in the Show. They have been involved with it since....
