Buccaneers sweep St. Clair in South Sub-Section opener

Three WEM volleyball players had a dozen or more good serves in leading the Buccaneers to a three-set sweep of St. Clair Thursday, Oct. 27 in Waterville in the South Sub-Section opener.
Junior Grace Baker was 12-of-12 serving with an ace. Freshman Addison Condon was 19-of-20 with an ace. Sophomore Ashlyn Pelant was 18-of-20 serving with two aces.
WEM, 16-13 overall, defeated the Cyclones 25-15, 25-19, and 25-7. All 10 players in uniform played for the Bucs.
Only twice in the match did WEM trail, falling behind 6-5 in the first set. The two teams were tied at 11-all before three service points by Pelant and five straight by Condon helped the Bucs forge a 22-13 lead.
Junior Claire Bohlen’s fifth kill of the first set and an ace serve by junior Josie Volkmann ended the first set. Volkmann did not miss a serve run seven attempts.
WEM took a 13-5 lead in the second set on the strength....
