Elysian courts are being repurposed

The City of Elysian will soon have something in their community they have not had before.

Sometime this summer a basketball court and pickleball court will be completed near the Elysian School in the vacant tennis court.

“The city was deeded the old tennis courts and the ballfield near the Elysian School from WEM School District last year after requests were made to the school from the city to take them over,” Nicole Lamont, a member of the Elysian Park Board said.

The park board did some surveying of what people would like to see the courts used for and the three main things were tennis, basketball, and pickleball.

“The city does not currently have any of these things and there are quite a few residents that currently travel to other cities for these amenities and hopefully will make use of the Elysian courts once they are complete,” Lamont said.

Members of the Elysian Little League Board will be working on improving the ballfield north of the Elysian School.
